Pakistan receives backing from over 100 countries before seating Iran and the US in Islamabad. The government of Pakistan has secured the support of more than a hundred countries and at least 26 direct contacts with their leaders in two days to ensure the viability of the peace talks starting tomorrow in Islamabad between the delegations of the United States and Iran. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, along with Army Chief General Asim Munir, have coordinated a round of contacts in the last 48 hours that has the backing of 110 nations. To the institutional support of the European Union and the unanimous support of the 57 countries of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) is added a schedule of bilateral calls with 25 states following the entry into force of the temporary ceasefire. This international mobilization aims to encourage negotiations amid the crisis in Lebanon, where the continuation of Israeli attacks, which have left more than 300 dead since Wednesday, threatens to lead Iran to withdraw from the negotiating table. Pakistan has also enabled the immediate issuance of visas in recent hours to facilitate the arrival of delegations and guarantee the access of the international press to cover the event. Following the ceasefire announcement, Islamabad has added the direct support of European nations such as Italy, France, Germany, the Netherlands, and Spain, as well as the head of EU diplomacy, Kaja Kallas, and the UN Secretary-General, António Guterres.
