Pakistan Accuses India Over Water Treaty Suspension

Pakistan's relations with India have deteriorated after the suspension of a key water-sharing treaty between the two neighboring countries. This escalation raises concerns over regional stability.

Pakistan Accuses India Over Water Treaty Suspension

Relations between India and Pakistan have worsened after Pakistan accused India of violating an important agreement on water sharing between the two neighboring countries.

Pakistan accused India of breaching the agreement on the utilization of the Ravi and Sutlej rivers, which was signed in 1960. According to this agreement, the waters of these rivers should be allocated between Pakistan and India. However, Pakistan asserts that India is using the water for its own needs without informing Pakistan.

Representatives of Pakistan stated that they intend to escalate this issue at the international level and may refer it to the World Bank, which was an intermediary during the signing of the aforementioned agreement.

In response to the allegations from Pakistan, India has not made any comments on this issue. From its side, Pakistani officials assert that water resources are vitally important for Pakistan, and violations of this agreement are unacceptable.

"We are seriously concerned about this issue and intend to secure our rights under the water resource agreement at the international level," stated a representative of Pakistan. The government of the country is determined to protect its interests and ensure the fair use of water in accordance with the agreements.
