The authorities of the Pakistani province of Punjab have declared a state of emergency due to toxic smog.
Smoke and haze, resulting from various sources of pollution, have caused serious health problems for the residents of the region. Among these problems are breathing difficulties and eye irritation, as well as a general decline in air quality.
"We cannot ignore the serious consequences of smog for our population," said the representative of the provincial government. He noted that all necessary measures are being taken to prevent further deterioration of the situation and to protect the health of citizens.
It is expected that the declared state of emergency will allow to coordinate the efforts of all services and organizations to combat polluted air and minimize its impact on the health of the province's residents.
