Onijah Andrew Robinson, a 33-year-old American woman who ventured to Pakistan to marry a man she met online, has found herself in a challenging situation. Upon her arrival in Karachi in October of 2024 to meet 19-year-old Nidal Ahmed Memon, her fiancé disappeared due to his family's disapproval of their union. Consequently, now stranded in Pakistan with an expired tourist visa, she has declined offers for help to return to the United States.
Despite the intervention of local authorities offering assistance for her repatriation, Robinson has expressed her desire to stay in Pakistan for the time being and has reached out for financial aid. Her situation became widely known after content creator Zaffar Abbas shared her story on social media platforms.
In a contrasting development, Robinson's son in the United States has spoken up, stating that his mother is mentally unwell and struggles with sound judgment. He revealed that Robinson had initially planned to return home within two weeks but extended her stay in Pakistan. Despite his efforts, including arranging a return ticket and persuading her to come back, she adamantly refused to leave the country.
Concerns over Robinson's mental health have prompted local authorities to admit her to a hospital for evaluation and care. Robinson, despite the challenging circumstances she faces, remains resolute in her decision to stay in Pakistan.
